Agerpres - 24 Februarie 2011
The International Automotive Components (IAC) Group, supplier of automotive components and systems, has begun the building work on the greenfield manufacturing facility in the town of Bals, Olt County (southern Romania), the investment for the new plant amounting to 58 million euros, according to a company release.
The plant will produce instrument panels, door panels, headliners and interior trim components, which will mainly support the Ford Company's production at the plant in Craiova (southern Romania). Work is scheduled to finish at the end of 2011.
The Romanian Government supported this investment project through a state aid worth 17 million euros. The state aid will be granted in several installments and will add to the 58 million euros, which the IAC Group plans to invest in Romania. The manufacturing facility covers a 15,000 square metre area and will include injection-moulding equipment with capacities ranging between 500 and 3,200 tonnes.
'Through this strategic expansion, we shall support the Ford Company's production in Craiova and we shall create 400 jobs, when the plant reaches the maximum production capacity. Moreover, we shall develop strategic partnerships with the universities and the technical schools in the area, with which we shall cooperate in establishing some study and training programmes,' IAC Europe operations general manager Pat Salter said when the building work started.
