ACTMedia - 24 Februarie 2011
Romanian businessmen are ready to reconquer the Russian Federation market's promising sectors, according to the Business Council for Economic Cooperation with the Russian Federation, reads a release of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry sent on Wednesday.
'We must be pragmatic, unfaltering and should focus on several projects in areas with potential,' said president of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sorin Dimitriu when the Business Council for Economic Cooperation with the Russian Federation was created.
The increase and development of the business relations and the mutually-beneficial cooperation between Romanian and Russian businessmen, the organization of a positive dialogue between the business communities in both countries are but a few goals of the Council, according to the enactment decree signed in Bucharest, in the presence of the directors of the relevant agencies in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment.
Among the founder members of the Council there are officials in major companies in various sectors - from producers of machines, furniture, clothes and shoes to officials in banks, transport companies, tourism, advertising and, last but nor least, research institutes.
Chairman of the Council is Sorin Dimitriu, president of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, vice-chairmen elect being Valentin Gabriel Comănescu, chairman and managing director at Upetrom Group Management, Mihai Berinde, Petrogaz chairman and Andrei Mauther, managing director at Iprolam Company. Mircea Toader, delegate of Mechel Group in Romania, was elected executive director and is going to ensure the connection with the same structure in Moscow. Signing the enactment decree of the Business Council for Economic Cooperation with Romania took place on December 14, 2010 in Moscow, in the presence of vice-president of the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry Georgy Petrov, Romanian Ambassador in Moscow Constantin Grigorie and other officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The chairman elect was Victor Trigubko, senior vice-chairman at Mechel.
'The crisis must be faced in the context of the opportunities arisen, and the Russian Federation is an opportunity,' said the president of the Bucharest Chamber on that occasion.
Thus, according to Olga Chumakova, official from the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry and manager of the Mechel subsidiary in Romania, Russia pays great attention to its regional development, among the major projects being those covering the necessary infrastructure to hold the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 (building 11 sport facilities and infrastructure facilities for transport and tourism), the Football World Cup in 2018, hosted by 14 Russian cities (building 13 stadiums, updating the transport system), as well as creating a modern scientific-technological complex in the east of the Odintovo region around Moscow, where the offices and laboratories of universities and major companies in Russia and other countries will be erected on a 370 ha surface.
According to Mircea Toader, the Russian Federation ranks 12th in the classification of the countries where the Romanian commodities arrive and 6 in the classification of the countries that export to Romania.
