Statistics: Industrial production prices edge up 10% in Jan. 2011 compared to Jan. 2010

The industrial production prices edged up 10 percent in Jan. 2011 compared to Jan. 2010 and by 1.3 percent, compared to Dec. 2010, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) said in a release sent on Wednesday.
The industrial production all-in prices (the domestic and external market) recorded an increase of 10 percent compared to Jan. 2010, but on segments, there were higher increases in the processing industry, namely plus 11.9 percent. Increases below the average of 10 percent were registered in the mining industry (plus 7.6 percent), water supply, sanitation, waste management, decontamination activities (plus 7.6 percent). The lowest rise was recorded in the prices of thermal and electric energy production and supply, gas, hot water and air conditioning (plus 0.8 percent). Regarding the large industrial segments, there were noticed significant rises in products related to the industry of intermediate goods (plus 13.9 percent) and the energy industry (plus 12 percent). The INS also reports the products that placed below the segment average were those from the staple goods industry (plus 7.9 percent), the capital goods industry (plus 3.3 percent) and the household appliance industry (plus 2.7 percent). The industrial production all-in prices recorded a rise of 1.3 percent in Jan. 2011 compared to the prior month, with a difference recorded between the price increase in the products designed to the domestic market, namely plus 1.3 percent and the prices designed to the external market, namely plus 1.5 percent. According to the above-cited source, increases exceeding the average of 1.3 percent were registered in the mining industry (plus 2.9 percent) and the processing industry (plus 1.6 percent), whereas the prices slumped in the thermal and electric energy production and supply, gas, hot water and air conditioning (minus 0.5 percent) and in water supply, sanitation, waste management, decontamination activities (minus 0.4 percent). In the large industrial segments, there were recorded price increases in the industry of intermediate goods (plus 2.1 percent), the energy industry (plus 1.7 percent), the staple goods industry (plus 0.9 percent), the household appliance industry (plus 0.7 percent). The prices of the products in the capital goods industry recorded drops compared to the previous month (minus 0.4 percent). The INS said the data for Dec. 2010 were rectified and those for Jan. 2010 are still provisory, Agerpres informs. The Jan. data showed values comparable to the values published by the INS for Dec. 2010, when the prices in the industrial production rose by 1.2 percent compared to Nov. 2010 and by 9.6 percent compared to Dec. 2009.
