Romanian Leu’s exch rate hits fresh 10-mo high at 4.2016 vs Euro

Romania's leu rose slightly against the euro in mid trade Thursday and the central bank's reference strengthened to a fresh ten-month high at 4.2016 units, from 4.2051 units a day earlier.
Against the US dollar, the leu's indicative reached 3.0297 units, about 0.4% stronger than 3.0406 units Wednesday. The leu opened slightly up on the day at 4.20/4.202 per euro, from 4.203/4.204 per euro at Wednesday closing. It further gained ground, touching an early high of 4.1945/4.1960 to the euro on positive sentiment in the global markets. Later, the leu lost part of its gains, in sync with the regional trend, and traded at 4.2015/4.2025 per euro at around GMT1100. On the money market Thursday, overnight rates fell slightly to 5.6%-6.1% a year, from 5.8%-6.3% a year in the previous day.
