The official opening of the Business Forum of the Gulf Co-operation Council, Tuesday, in Bucharest

The Romania- Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) business forum called 'Business opportunities in Central and South-Eastern Europe', to be held March 8-10, 2011 in Bucharest is the first business event of such magnitude in Central and South-Eastern Europe. Its main aim is to highlight opportunities for economic, investment, business and trade cooperation among the participating countries.
Expected to attend the forum, organised by the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) in cooperation with the Romanian Ministry of Economy, Trade and the Business Milieu, the GCC General Secretariat in partnership with Forum Invest Bucharest and the GCC Federation of Commerce Chambers under the high aegis of the Romanian President, are economy ministers, industry ministers and commerce ministers of GCC states, officials of other interested ministries, the management of main banks and national chambers of commerce, officials of the finance and banking sector, the investment, business and academic milieus, MAE reports in a press release . Representing Romania will be the economics ministries, the National Bank, the National Council of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the National Association of Romanian Exporters and Importers (ANEIR), other professional organisations. The forum is divided in five panels that represent the fields suggested for cooperation: Panel I. - Energy, natural resources: oil and natural gas; Panel II - Infrastructure, construction, the real estate market; Panel III - Tourism; Panel IV - Investment Promotion, trade, IT&C; Panel V - Agriculture. Talks will focus on projects in these fields deemed of special interest to the national economy. The forum was initiated by GCC Secretary General Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah. The official opening is scheduled for March 8 in the afternoon, while a plenary session and the meetings of the working groups will take place on March 9. March 10 is set aside for one-to-one business talks, the MAE reports. The GCC Business Forum in Bucharest is conceived as the first stage in a series of wide-ranging events that will boost economic cooperation among the officials of the participating countries. Toward the end of the year of early next year, a new edition of the forum will be held in one of the GCC member states.
