The delegations in the states of the Cooperation Council of the Golf received on Tuesday at Cotroceni by president Traian Basescu informed in connection with the decision referring to the organisation of a similar event in one of the Arabic states in the Golf in the near future.
President Basescu received on Tuesday at Cotroceni the heads of delegations who took part in the Forum « Cooperation Council of the Golf – Romania- Bucharest : opportunities of business in Central and Southern-Eastern Europe ». At the meeting there were Romanian ministers of economy, foreign affairs and transport and infrastructure, the presidency informs.
« President Basescu noticed the ambitious portfolio of projects on the agenda of the forum which started today in Bucharest and the high level of participation, both on the Romanian side and the member states of the Council for Cooperation of the Golf.The topics discussed focused on coopeation in energy, food, infrastructure, transport, education and science. The head of state made a presentation of the opportunities our country offers to foreign investors and appreciated the interest shown by the interlocutors for developing cooperation with Romania. The days of the economic forum in Bucharest will continue in the days to come, when the participants present concrete projects of partnership in a thematic session » a press release of the presidency says.
At the end of discussions, the representatives of the delegations in the states of the Council for Cooperation in the Golf informed the president of Romania with regards to the decision to organised a similar event in one of the Golf states, in the near future, according to the quoted source.
Kuwaiti official: Romania has all the characteristics to develop economic relations with Gulf states
Romania has all the characteristics that can bring about a crystallisation and development of economic relations with the Gulf states, Kuwaiti's Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Rashed Al-Hauron told a business forum called 'The Gulf Co-operation Council - Business opportunities in Central and South-Eastern Europe'.
He said they do not need capital, but technique and know-how and trained labor. All the Gulf state, he added, know that Romania has all the characteristics that will lead to the crystallisation of economic relations and their further development. He mentioned that many Gulf states are seeking investment opportunities and that in an unnamed country investments rose in six years from $4 million to $6billion. Why should these investments not be in Romania, the Kuwaiti minister of commerce and industry wondered.
Trade relations between GCC countries and Romania are still at a low level
Trade relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States and Romania are still at a very low level, stated on Wednesday, in the second day of the GCC-Romania-Bucharest Economic Forum, Abdulrahim Hassan Naqi, Secretary General of the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce. 'The Forum is a great opportunity to create networks between companies in the Gulf zone and businessmen in Romania. I believe that in the GCC there is a very good environment for investments. We have the necessary legislation, businesses and opportunities. Via the GCC Chamber of Commerce we represent more than 500 members. Relations between the GCC countries and Romania are still quite low. We are here today to answer any questions ', stressed Hasan Naqi. According to data presented in the first day of the forum by Khaled Al Marhoun, Deputy Secretary General of the GCC, the volume of trade between GCC member states and Romania reached in 2009 the value of 600 million dollars, increasing by 400 percent compared to 2000. 'There are great investment possibilities in the countries of Southeastern Europe, the same as in the Gulf Cooperation Council states, in agriculture, tourism, energy, natural resources, financial investments and other areas. Council states will proceed with preparing a climate conducive to investments. The volume of trade between the Council members and Romania reached 600 million dollars in 2009, an increase of 400 percent from the beginning of 2000, GCC official highlighted in his message. At the same time, the volume of industrial investments in the countries of the Council amounted in 2009 to over 180 billion dollars, while the number of active enterprises in the same year exceeded 13,000, with more than a million employees. In addition, the industry contribution to the GDP in the Council member countries is about 11 percent and it is 'steadily growing'. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business (MECMA) and the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council of the Gulf (GCC) and under the high patronage of Romania's Presidency, organized on March 8-10, in Bucharest, the GCC - Romania - Bucharest Economic Forum: Business Opportunities in Central and South-East Europe. This is the first major economic event in Central and South-East Europe and aims to lay the emphasis on cooperation opportunities in the economic field, investments, business and trade between the participating states, Agerpres informs.
