Romania to have nine more industrial parks

There are currently nine industrial parks in Romania under construction, with their total number amounting to 49, State Secretary with the Ministry of Administration and the Interior (MAI) Gheorghe Marcu told a specialist conference within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-Romania-Bucharest Business Forum on Wednesday.
'The industrial parks are a solution for local development. At present, this kind of industrial parks can be found in 22 Romanian counties. The total number of the industrial parks existing in Romania stands at 49, covering 2,590 hectares. Out of these, 26 were built by local administrations, six were constructed in partnership with private operators, 17 were exclusively built by private companies and nine other are currently under construction,' Marcu said.
The MAI official also discussed the advantages to the companies that decide to invest in the construction of an industrial park in Romania.'Among the advantages to the companies that builds an industrial park, there are low costs, well-trained workforce, exemptions from land and building taxes, as well as a tax exemption for pulling out the land from agricultural use. In order to receive the name of industrial park, it must have an area of at least 10 hectares and it should be available for use for 30 years,' Marcu said.
According to the MAI state secretary, most industrial parks are currently based in Southern Romania, namely 18, followed by the Central region with 12, North-Eastern, 6, Western Romania, 3 and two parks for each of the North-Eastern, South-Eastern and South-Western regions.
At the same time, there are 760 companies operating under the project for building industrial parks, which has so far created 36,839 jobs locally.
The Romanian Foreign Ministry, in cooperation with the Romanian Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment, the GCC General Secretariat, under the high patronage of the Romanian Presidency, is organising, March 8-10, in Bucharest, a GCC-Romania-Bucharest Business Forum called 'Business Opportunities in Central and South-Eastern Europ' , Agerpres reports.
