Eurostat: Romanian Q4 employment sees third biggest decrease in EU

Romania registered the third biggest decrease in the European Union of the number of people employed in the fourth quarter of 2010, according to EU's statistics office Eurostat.
The number of employees fell 1.8% in the fourth quarter of 2010 compared to the same interval in 2009. The decrease rate in Romania is similar to that in Portugal. Data show seven of the 27 EU member states registered an employment decrease. Compared to the same quarter in 2009, employment grew by 0.3% in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2010. Eurostat estimates that 221.7 million people were employed in EU in the last quarter of 2010.
