Romania's exports to Libya total EUR 45 mn in 2010

Romania's exports to Libya totalled 45.02 million euros in 2010, with grain as the main exported product, worth 20.8 million euros, according to information sent to Agerpres by the Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business Environment.

Romania exported also livestock worth 7.6 million euros and products from the range of nuclear reactors, boilers, machines and mechanical devices worth 6.4 million euros, as well as sugar or sugar-based products or products made of cast iron, iron or steel.During 2010, Romania imported from Libya products amounting to 33.7 million euros and the main imports were organic chemical products worth 30.9 million euros and plastic/products made of plastic. They totalled 1.75 million euros.

Trade between Romania and Libya went up to 105 million euros in 2010, with the exports accounting for 59.2 million dollars and the imports, 45.9 million dollars, according to the source quoted. In 2009, Romania's exports to Libya went up to 41.7 million dollars and the imports were 63.4 million dollars. The Minister of Economy, Commerce and Business Environment mentioned that they have no records of the companies to deal business in Libya.

'Some Romanian companies are known to have contracted technical assistance activities in the oil extraction, chemistry and infrastructure fields but, according to the information held by the Minister, they withdrew their personnel out of this country in the second half of February 2010. We are talking here about Rompetrol, Romconsult, Petroconsult, etc,' says the Economy Minister.
