Romania Feb overdue loans up 5% on month to RON 17.6 bn

Romanian overdue private loans rose 5% on the month to 17.56 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.1020), equal to 8.44% of the total lending, central bank data showed Thursday.
A month earlier, overdue non-government loans stood at RON16.7 billion. Compared with the same month of 2010, overdue private loans nearly doubled in February. Past due loans in Romanian lei were up 3.7% on the month to RON8.1 billion in February, while overdue foreign currency loans rose 5.8% to RON9.5 billion, the data showed. End February, overall private lending was down 1.3% in real terms from the earlier month, at RON206.6 billion.
