Alpha Bank’s profit in Romania - EUR 49 mn

Alpha Bank's made a gross profit of EUR 49.2 million last year in Romania, a drop of 3 percent compared to 2009, when its profit stood at EUR 50.7 million.

Its operational revenues decreased by 0.7 percent, to EUR 220.3 million last year, while the bank managed to reduce its operational expenses by 4.5 percent, to EUR 92.5 million. The non-performing loans advanced to 7.1 percent of the portfolio, compared to only 2.6 percent in 2009. Alpha Bank's costs with provisions were of EUR 78.7 million last year, an increase of 5.9 percent. The bank managed to attract 2.6 percent fewer deposits in Romania last year – EUR 1.65 billion-, while the volume of loans went down by 14.3 percent – to EUR 3.6 billion. Alpha Bank runs 175 banking units in Romania. The Greek group is also present on the local market through Alpha Finance România, Alpha Leasing România IFN, Alpha Advisory România and Alpha Insurance Brokers.
