BCR expecting Romanian economy to advance 3.9% in 2012

Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) has upwardly adjusted its projections of Romania's economic growth in 2012, from 2.6 percent to 3.9 percent, under a BCR specialist report presented on Tuesday by BCR senior economist Lucian Anghel.
Private consumption should increase by 1.5 percent in 2011 and by 3.7 percent in 2012, after a 2-precente decrease in 2010. Retail sales should get back to growth - 1.6 percent in 2011 and 3 percent in 2012 - after a 5.3-percent drop in 2010.BCR is also expecting a rise in foreign direct investment from 2.6 billion euros in 2010 to 4 billion euros in 2011 and 4.5 billion euros in 2012.
Inflation rate December to December should decline from 8 percent in 2010 to 5.2 percent in 2011 and 4.7 percent in 2012. Unemployment should also decrease from 6.9 percent in 2010 to 6.2 percent in 2011 and 5.6 percent in 2012.BCR is expecting the National Bank of Romania (BNR) to keep its monetary policy rate at 6.25 percent in 2011 and possibly increase it to 6.75 percent in 2012.
