BCR estimates 0.5% growth in Romania's economy in Q1 2011 compared to Q4 2010

The Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) estimates an increase in Romania's economy of 0.5 percent in the first quarter of 2011 compared to the fourth quarter of 2010, relying on data available to date.
This would be the second quarter when the Romanian economy grows compared to the previous quarter, after a 0.1 percent growth reported in the fourth quarter of 2010 compared to the third. On a year-on-year comparison, Romania's economy grew by 0.8 percent over the first three months of 2011, according to the estimation of the BCR experts.
In 2010, the gross domestic product dropped 1.2 percent in comparison with 2009. The official assessment forecasts an economic growth of 1.5 percent for 2011 and of 4.4 percent for 2012.
