SIFs net assets increase by 4.5% in first quarter

Net assets of the five financial investment companies (SIFs) stood at the end of the first quarter of 2011 at 7.29 billion lei, increasing by 1.4 percent compared to February 2011, and by 4.5 percent from December 2010, the Fund Managers Association (AAF) informs.
Euro-denominated, the net assets at the end of March was 1.77 billion euros, 4.1 percent higher than at the end of the previous month.
In March, four of the five SIFs have registered growing net assets, they starting with 0.8 percent for SIF Banat-Crisana, and rising to 2.89 percent for SIF Muntenia, while SIF Transilvania saw a decrease in its net assets of 1.37 percent compared to the previous month.
Closing prices level recorded at the end of March, as against the previous months, had significant variations, all SIFs achieving growth, with a maximum amplitude of 29.7 percent by SIF Muntenia, and the minimum increase, of 10.3 percent, by SIF Moldova.
According to AAF, the profit made by the SIFs at the end of the month does not represent for the time being significant values.
In March 2011, SIF Oltenia and SIF Moldova had the highest liquidity, with 14.48 percent of their stock each being traded in this period, respectively 12.50 percent of their share capital, through 12,463 transactions conducted on SIF Oltenia and 9,969 on SIF Moldova.
In terms of completed number of transactions, SIF Banat Crisana presented the lowest interest for investors, with a number of 6,459 transactions in March, accounting for 6.85 percent of its share capital.
