PM Boc: Comarnic-Brasov and Pitesti-Sibiu road sectors under way this year
Agerpres - 2 Mai 2011
Prime Minister Emil Boc announced in Bacau (east), on Sunday April 30 that the Comarnic-Brasov motorway (central) and that linking Pitesti (south) and Sibiu (central) will 'get under way, this year.'
The investments are part in a tier encompassing 20 projects that the Government approved on Wednesday April 27, and to be achieved in a public-private partnership, Romania's Prime Minister stressed. Two more speedway sectors, namely that between Targu Mures (central), Iasi (east) and Ungheni (north-east) and the second connecting Bucharest and Focsani (east) and which could reach Suceava and Siret (north-east) are to be built, based on the same cooperation, PM Emil Boc said.
He added that Transport Minister Anca Boagiu showed readiness to talk with the EU Commission to get the initial project enlarged.
'I hope that during the talk with the EU Commissioner for Transport, the proposal of today regarding the prolongation of the Bucharest-Focsani speedway gets approved and the motorway is to cross Romania's border at Siret, and it will be a success. I count on the fact that the roads crossing the EU borders are extremely important,' said PM Boc.
He also reaffirmed the requirement of adopting public-private partnerships as a solution to get the country modernized faster and pointed out that no country raises enough taxes to get big projects accomplished on budget money, only.
'Supplying the design and giving the investors the possibility to capitalize the objective and recoup their investment, we can get emergency hospitals, the Siret-Bargan Canal or the Danube-Bucharest road built, along with many other projects, in the social field included, so that we can get an additional solution, beside the budget money or the EU funds, and get Romania modernized faster,' PM Boc concluded.
