IMF had talks with BNR officials

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation headed by Jeffrey Franks on Monday had talks with National Bank of Romania (BNR) officials, within the mission evaluating Romania's observing the conditionalities stipulated in the precautionary agreement signed with the Romanian authorities.
According to Jeffrey Frank's statement at the beginning of the evaluation mission, the discussions at the National Bank 'will aim to the monetary policy, the inflation target and the situation in the financial sector.'On Monday the mission will also have talks with members of the Public Finance Ministry (MFP).
The Romanian Government on Friday adopted the Convergence Programme 2011-2014, which, regarding the monetary policy and the exchange rate, shows that BNR's essential objective is that of ensuring and maintaining the stability of prices.
