MFP borrows over EUR 50.1 mn from commercial banks

The Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) on Thursday borrowed over 50.1 million euros (206.04 million lei) from commercial banks, through an issue of benchmark bonds, auctioned by the National Bank of Romania. (1 euro = 4.10 lei).
The government bonds become due in Oct. 2014. The average yield level stood at 7.31 percent and the discount rate amounted to 6.25 percent.The total value of the issue ran to 500 million euros for a demand of over 774.54 billion euros from 12 banks.Submitting bids were 12 primary dealers, namely Alpha Bank Romania, BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, Carpatica Commercial Bank (BCC), Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), Transilvania Bank, Bancpost, CEC Bank, Citibank Romania, ING, Raiffeisen Bank, RBS Bank Romania and UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
