Analysts estimate that the annual inflation rate increased to 8.2% in April

Consumption prices increased in April by 0.5% while the annual inflation rate was 8.2% according to an average of opinions expressed by the members of the financial analysis's association.

The opinions over the monthly inflation varied from 0.3% to 0.7% and estimates regarding the annual rate were between 8.0% and 8.4%.

Romania's CPI rose 0.6% on the month in March, while the annual rate came in at 8.01%, the highest level since August 2008. Analysts estimate a monthly inflation between 0.3% and 0.7% in April, while the annual rate forecasts range between 8% and 8.4%.

For the end of 2011 the members of the association placed the annual inflation rate at 5.3% (with estimates varying from 5% to 5.9%. Moreover, analysts estimate that for the end of 2012 the annual inflation rate will decrease to 4.5% (estimates varying from 3.6% to 5%. The association was created in 2008 and reunites about 70 financial and banking analysts.

The statistics institute INS is due to release inflation data for April on Tuesday.
