FinMin borrows RON 500 mn from commercial banks

The Public Finances Ministry on Thursday borrowed 500 million lei from the commercial banks by an issue of benchmark government bonds put to tender via the National Bank of Romania.(1 euro=4.1 lei)

The bonds mature on April 30, 2016, with the average yield standing at 7.34 percent. The coupon rate is 6 percent.

The total demand from the 12 banks participating in the tender stood at 1.273 billion lei.

Participating in the tender were Alpha Bank Romania, BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, Banca Comerciala Carpatica (BCC), Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR), Banca Transilvania, Bancpost, CEC Bank, Citibank Europe, ING, Raiffeisen Bank, RBS Bank Romania and UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
