Pilot project - “Management of the Correlation between the Education System and the Labour Market”
ACTMedia - 20 Mai 2011
'Universities closer to the future', the slogan of the pilot project 'Management of the Correlation between the Education System and the Labour Market', launched on May 18, 2001, by The Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport, shows the Ministry's commitment and effort to enhance the adjustment of higher education to an ever-changing labour market.
According to the ptress release sent by the organizer, the aim of the project is to reach interconnectivity between the educational system and the labour market, through the implementation of a mechanism meant to monitor graduates' insertion onto the labour market. This surveying is to be carried out through the establishment of a network set to collect qualitative and quantitative data, as well as through the development of instruments, procedures and methodologies used to constantly improve and bring up-to-date the set of knowledge and skills provided by universities, having market-orientation as a guiding principle.
The partnership forged for this project brings together public and private entities, all of them highly experienced in education and the labour market: The National Centre for Training in Statistics, The National Institute for Scientific Research on Labour and Social Protection and ÖSB Consulting GmbH Austria.''Through this project, we wish to bring an element of novelty, something that currently does not exist as a part of the framework of labour market management, that is the correlation of higher education with the needs of the labour market. Briefly, we want that universities (...), once they launch a learning programme, have a good level of knowledge on their graduates' chances for employment in a compatible field.'', stated at the launching conference mister Florin Popa, Project Manager.
''On the economic background in our country, that of a knowledge-based society, the correlation between the educational system and the labour market is a requirement of the occupational and qualifications anticipation process. We are part of a highly uncorrelated field, the labour market, generating crises on other national markets as well. (...) The need for the implementation of the project is justified by the major focus, both at an European and a national level, on the rise of the employment rate, process involving the achieving of a labour market able to bring into being new work places.'' said PhD. Constantin Mitruţ, President of the Romanian Statistics Society.
The message of Secretary of State Cătălin Ovidiu Baba was delivered by missus Veronica Merticariu, Office Manager:''The project meets the need to identify mechanisms that would lead to a better capacity of universities to supply high qualifications relevant to a dynamic and shifting labour market. At the end of the 3 years of implementation of this project, we wish to be able to say we are the beneficiaries of an integrated graduates' insertion monitoring instrument, offering, in real time, an answer to the student wishing to start a career based on predictability. We trust that the involved partners will concentrate all of their resources for the professional reaching of the objectives.''
The project 'Management of the Correlation between the Education System and the Labour Market' is financed through European Social Fund by Sectorial Operational Programme Human Resources Development 2007-2013. The project's total value is of 13.996.694 lei, out of which a 10.606.298 lei grant and 3.168.115 lei, the beneficiary's contribution.
