Hungary ranks 12th in end-2010 ranking of foreign investors in Romania

Hungary was 12th in a ranking of foreign investors in Romania as of end-2010, with 10,777 companies operating in Romania that employed more than 5,000 people, MEP Iuliu Winkler told Agerpres on Friday.

He attended a conference of the Association of Hungarian Business People of Romania (AAUR), together with executives of important commercial companies headquartered in Hungary that are doing business in Romania.

'This is not my first attendance of a conference of the association, which I believe is extremely important to the Romanian business community because it comprises relevant Hungarian investors doing business in Romania. According to statistics, as of December 31, 2010, Hungary was 12th in the ranking of foreign investors in Romania, with 10,777 companies employing more than 5,000 people. This is why, in my opinion, the existence of dynamic business relations between Romania and Hungary are very interesting. My presence in the conference allowed me to bring information from Brussels, from the European Union, that are the European Union's opinions, information that I hope will be useful to the Hungarian business people operating in Romania,' said Winkler.

AAUR Chairman Panczel Zoltan said the aim of the conference was to popularise trends and analyses of the Romanian business environment, banking environment as well as commercial investment and relations between Romania and Hungary. AAUR was established on May 15, 2005 at the initiative of several prestigious Hungarian companies and business people.
