Romanian managers estimate increase of activity in industry, commerce, services and constructions

Activity in manufacturing industry, retail, services and constructions will increase between May and July according to the opinions of managers of some companies interviewed by the Institute for Statistics (INS).

At the same time, they estimate that during the period to come the number of employees will increase in constructions and it will be stable in the other economic sectors.

Moderate increase of prices is kept in the processing industry

Managers in manufacturing industry estimate for the next three months a moderate growth of volume of production ( short term +13%). As regards the number of employees it is estimated relative stability, the short term being -3% for the whole manufacturing industry.

For some of the activities there will be a tendency of drop more than for others : manufacturing of means of transport, metallurgy, oil processing products ( short term -23, -22 and -19%). For the prices of industrial products, it is estimated a moderate increase of those over the next three months ( +12%).

Number of employees to grow in constructions

In constructions, over the next three months, there will be an increase of production volume ( +24%) as well as of the number of contracts and orders ( +18%). The managers estimate a moderate growth of the number of employees ( +11%) this trend being given especially by the big companies with 249 – 500 employees. As regards prices for constructions works, it is estimated a growth of these ( +16%).

Sales of freight will grow in retail

In May, managers in the sector of retail estimated a moderate growth of economic activity for the next three months ( +8%). The total volume of sales of freight will grow ( +18%) while the volume of orders addressed to the commercial units to freight suppliers will record a slight advance ( +11%). Employees estimate, for the next three months, a relative stability of the number of employees in this sector ( +1%) as well as a growth of the retail prices ( +36%).

Services keep growing

According to estimates in May, the turnover for services will have a moderate increase ( +11%) and the number of employees will be stable in this sector as well ( -2%). According to the opinion of managers, selling prices or billing the services will have a growth tendency ( +18%). These results were obtained through the analysis, following the estimates made by the managers of companies with regard to the evolution tendencies of economic activity. The analyses were made on the basis of samples in the domain of manufacturing industry ( 2,151 companies) constructions ( 1,671), retail ( 2,110) and services ( 2,546). The value of samples was established so that estimate error admitted to be +/-5% at the level of the sector.
