Romanian-Austrian cooperation agreement on agriculture

he Agency for Agricultural Payments and Interventions (APIA) signed a cooperation agreement with the AgrarMarkt Austria Agency (AMA) on May 20 on the occasion of the Conference of the Payment Agencies' General Managers held in Budapest.
The agreement forged between the two institutions was signed by APIA General Manager Florin Marius Faur and Chairman of AMA Gunter Griesmayr, APIA reports. The managers agreed in the protocol to stage several meetings, attended mainly by experts, on certain domains of high interest for both institutions.
The main domains of cooperation include: elements to streamline the Common Agricultural Policy after 2013, measures of rural development, support measures and aspects regarding their control, external and domestic market measures and economic aspects and IT systems for agriculture as well. Moreover, the document stipulates the joint participation of the experts of both agencies in potential twinning projects in order to provide consultancy services for other institutions.
AMA is the Austrian institution in charge of managing the European and national funds for agriculture, offered in the sector of market measures (milk quota, intervention, sugar and starch, foreign trade), the support measures (unique payment scheme, the premium per animal), the compensatory payments (agri-environmental programme, compensatory payments for disadvantaged areas, specific measures of rural development) and also of managing the related technical controls.
