ACTMedia - 6 Iunie 2011
The first Honorary Consulate of Slovenia in Romania was opened on Friday in Targu Mures (central Romania), in the presence of charge d'affaires of the Slovene Republic in Romania Marcel Koprol.
The Honorary Consulate of Targu Mures, the first of the kind in this municipality, has a consular district covering 10 Counties of Transylvania (central-western region of Romania) and is led by Victor Surdea.
Marcel Koprol at the consulate opening said that over the past four years the Slovene businesspeople had been very active in Romania, that more and more Slovene companies were interested in investing here, the same as more and more Romanian investors directed their attention towards Slovenia.
According to the diplomat, the Consulate of Targu Mures will help Slovenia be more known in Romania.
The Government of Ljubljana in November 2010 announced that at the same time with the Slovene Honorary Consulates opening in India (Chennai) and Bulgaria (Sofia), Romanian businessman Victor Surdea would be appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Targu Mures, with the purpose of facilitating the access of Slovene companies to the economic and business environment of Romania, mainly that of Transylvania.
Through this office, they aim at representing the Slovene Republic's interests in the Romanian economic, business and cultural environments, stimulating the development of relations and facilitating the economic and commercial contacts between the Slovene and the Romanian companies in the consular district area, as well as supplying information on the economic environment and the business opportunities in Slovenia.
