The inflation rate went up in May at 8.5%

Prices recorded, most likely a growth of 0.3% in May, according to a survey made by Asociatia Analistilor Financiar-Bancari of Romania. Thus, the monthly rate of inflation went up in May up to 8.5% against 8.3% as it was in April.
The monthly rate of inflation of May was 0.3% ( the estimate of analysts vary between 0.3% and 0.5%) while the annual rate of inflation was 8.5% ( estimates vary between 8.3% and 8.6%)according to a survey made by AAFBR.
For the end of 2011, the estimate of AAFBR members who answered the survey place the annual rate of inflation at 5.3% ( the estimates vary between 5.1% and 6.1%). The expectations of analysts regarding the annual rate of inflation at the end of 2011 are at the same level with those of last month, but increased against the estimates of two months ( 4.8%) as well as against those of three months ( 4.5%).
For the end of 2012, the analysts place the annual rate of inflation at 4.5% ( estimates vary between 3.5% and 5%). The expectations regarding the annual rate of inflation at the end of 2012 were stabilised after they went up from 3.5% to 4.1% in the previous months.
The level stays over the target of the BNR of 3% for 2012. AAFBR is an association without lucrative purpose, set up in January 2008 and gathers almost 70 analysts in the banking sector, pensions funds, management companies for investments, insurance companies and capital market.
