ACTMedia - 16 Iunie 2011
The new president of the Foreign Investment Council (FIC) is Raiffeisen Bank president Steven van Groningen, who replaces OMV Petrom managing director Mariana Gheorghe from the position. Van Groningen will hold the FIC tenure by May 2012.
The FIC executive leadership also includes Frank Hajdinjak, E.ON Energie Romania CEO, who was elected vice president; Serban Toader, senior partner KPMG Romania, elected vice president; and Daniel Anghel, tax partner PricewaterhouseCoopers România, who will be the FIC treasurer.
'The new Board of Directors during the tenure seeks deeper involvement of the experts in defining the actions required in the period ahead, but mostly deeper involvement of the private sector in the implementation of these measures, in order to set the prerequisites for substantial economic growth over the next year', the FIC said in a release on Wednesday.
The main topics proposed by Van Groningen for the Council's future activities include maintaining the dialogue with the authorities for the measures having proved to be able to have a positive impact on the economic growth, increased absorption of the European funds, arguing for making the public institutions system more efficient, implementing the measures aimed to draw fresh investment to those sectors having a growth potential, such as power, agriculture and infrastructure.
The Foreign Investment Council represents 128 companies in Romania with combined investment accounting for two-thirds of overall foreign investment in Romania. The 128 companies have more than 36 billion euros in combined turnover, Agerpres informs.
