Survey: Hiring estimates, at most optimistic level since start of crisis
ACTMedia - 16 Iunie 2011
Romanian employers have the most ambitious hiring plans since end-2008 and up to now, given the fact that 28% of the firms on the local market want to increase their number of employees in Q3 2011, shows a survey by Manpower Romania, a human resources company.
'The estimates on hirings are this time the highest in the last three years in Romania and make us optimistic for H2 2011,' Valentin Petrof, country manager of Manpower Romania, was quoted as saying by Ziarul Financiar daily.
For the first time since end-2008, the Romanian employers' hiring forecasts have reached a record level of 20%, compared with negative estimates of -2% at the beginning of this year or -11% at end-2009. Those who want to find a job in the following period have more chances in Romania than in other countries. In Spain, Greece or Italy, for example, there will be more layoffs than hirings in the next period.
'Although many companies are still delaying their growth plans, the findings of our survey send a positive signal expected by several industries, employees and even by some consumers. The estimates on hiring activity are this time the highest in the last three years in Romania and make us optimistic for H2 2011,' says Valentin Petrof, country manager of Manpower Romania.
The survey, conducted on a sample of 765 Romanian employers countrywide, includes statistical data about the hiring estimates in ten activity sectors in eight regions. Although the hiring estimates are the most optimistic in the past three years, most Romanian employers (63%) say they do not anticipate any change in the structure of employees, meaning there will be no layoffs, and no massive hiring either. The main indicator considered for the findings of the survey is 'the net hiring estimate,' which represents the difference between the percentage of employers who will hire in the next period and the percentage of those that will reduce the number of employees.
Romania had the most spectacular growth in the region in terms of hiring plans since the start of the crisis, along countries such as Bulgaria or Poland, which have lower hiring plans than Romania, though, Ziarul Financiar daily writes.
Manpower Romania is one of the top five players on the market of human resources services, which in 2010 recorded a turnover estimated at 18.7 million euros, up by 48% compared with the previous year. The company's main competitors are Adecco Romania, Lugera & Makler, Trenkwalder or APT.
