Romania, Jordan to sign new healthcare cooperation agreement
ACTMedia - 21 Iunie 2011
Romania's Health Minister Cseke Attila on Monday announced in Cluj-Napoca that his ministry and the Jordanian Ministry of Health will conclude a new healthcare cooperation agreement. He told journalists that Romania is particularly interested in Jordan's expertise in the field of oncology.
'There will be several fields to be included in the new healthcare agreement that will be concluded between the two ministries, and oncology in the first one, because Jordan has valuable expertise; they have an excellent cancer centre, the King Hussein Cancer Centre, to which Romania could be connected for networking and expertise. Here in Cluj, Romania has its best oncology institute and the Jordanian health minister and I will be touring it as the first link of our cooperation. Yet, I believe there aero other university centers as well that can become connecting bridges,' said Cseke.
He mentioned that the Jordanian cancer centre is part of the world's specialist networks made up of many US universities, and the Romanian cancer institutes could also join the networks in order to benefit from the expertise acquired by their colleagues from traditional centres.
'I think there is a very serious connecting bridge between the two countries in the healthcare field provided by people as well, not just by the institutions, which are cooperating excellently, and medicine universities. First of all, there are Jordanian practitioners who have graduated from Romanian medical universities, and there are more than 3,500 of them. They are a very important bridge,' said Cseke.
Cseke attended on Monday in Cluj-Napoca the second Romanian-Jordanian medical conference, where also attending was Jordan's Health Minister Wajih Oais. The first conference was held in 2010 in Amman.
