Overdue loans augment in May

The total value of the corporate and household overdue loans in lei registered in May, 2011, amounts to 8.428 billion lei, 0.39 percent over the value of the previous month, and that of the loans in foreign currency stood at over 10.104 billion lei (equivalent) (1 euro = 4.21 lei), having increased 4.7 percent, according to a report of the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
The total amount of national currency loans in April stood at 78.49 billion lei (plus 0.32 percent compared with the previous month, out of which 41.48 billion lei represented corporate loans and 35.401 billion lei, household loans.
The foreign exchange loans totalled 130.82 billion lei (plus 2.17 percent), out of which 64.907 billion lei were corporate loans and 64.659 billion lei were household loans.
The total value of overdue loans in national currency at the end of May in Bucharest stood at 2.025 billion lei and the overdue loans in foreign exchange stood at 4.61 billion lei (equivalent). The total value of loans in lei contracted in the capital accounted for 23.414 billion lei and those in foreign currency amounted to 59.569 billion lei.
