MFP borrows over EUR 210 mn from commercial banks

The Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) on Monday borrowed about 212 million euros (over 900 million lei) from the commercial banks through an issue of discount treasury bills, auctioned by the National Bank of Romania (1 euro = 4.2272 lei).
The bonds are redeemable on July 11, 2012, for an average yield rate of 6.23 percent. They pay a coupon of 5.86 percent.The total demand from the 12 bidding commercial banks stood at 3.193 billion lei.Submitting bids were 12 banks, namely Alpha Bank Romania, BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, Carpatica Commercial Bank (BCC), Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), Transilvania Bank, Bancpost, CEC Bank, Citibank Romania, ING Bank, Raiffeisen Bank, RBS Bank Romania and UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
