Textiles, IT and furniture bring Romania's exports to UK, 40% up
ACTMedia - 12 Iulie 2011
Romania's exports to Great Britain increased by 40 percent, during the first four months of the year, when Romania was exporting electronics, textiles, IT products and furniture totaling 400 million euros, chairman of the British - Romanian Chamber of Commerce Raymond Breden, told a news conference, on Monday.
'Exports grew by 40 percent, over the first four months of the year, I mean Romania's exports to Great Britain, after they went up not less than 50 percent, last year when there were exported textiles, clothes, electronics and IT products but also furniture and equipment. I don't know whether it is a clear tendency regarding the reversal of the commercial ratios, but I'll get a clear image by the yearend,' said the chairman of the British - Romanian Chamber of Commerce.
Romania's imports from the UK market, consisting in chemicals, pharmaceuticals and mechanic equipment amounted to 290 million euros, during the first four months of 2011, by 13 percent up compared to that scored during the same time span, in 2010.
At present, UK ranks the 14th among Romania's exports destinations, and the 8th among its main imports partners. Breden emphasized that the lack of infrastructure, of long-termed projects, on behalf of the Romanian investors or authorities, and the corruption are the main obstacles on the way of the British investors, in the Romanian market.
