Romania and Greece want CAP and CP appropriate financing after 2013

Romania and Greece are interested in coordinating their efforts for maintaining an appropriate financing within the new multi-annual budget after 2013 for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and for the Cohesion Policy (CP), informs a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) release.
The MAE release refers to the consultations on Tuesday in Athens between Romanian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu and Hellenic Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou.
The two officials approached priority topics of the European agenda, such as the launching of negotiations on the new multi-annual financial outlook and the future of the Common Agricultural Policy and the Cohesion Policy, in the context of the proposals of the European Union on this matter having been published on June 29, 2011.
'Both parties showed their interest in coordinating their efforts for maintaining an appropriate financing for the two policies within the new multi-annual budget after 2013,' reads the MAE release.
The meeting also facilitated an opinion exchange on the developments in the Western Balkans, the expansion process carried out by the European Union and the reform of the European Neighbourhood Policy. Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu maintained, in context, the inclusion of the Republic of Moldova in the new initiative related with the establishment of a EU Strategy for the Western Balkans, stressing the unquestionable progress made by this state in the direction of adopting the European values and practices, the above-mentioned source points out.
At the same time, the Romanian diplomat gave thanks for the constant support granted by the Hellenic Republic in Romania's process of accession to the Schengen area, the Hellenic official reconfirming their maintaining this position which aims at Romania's accession without any conditionalities or connections with other European files, such as the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism, and voiced his appreciation for Romania's contribution in the FRONTEX operations on the Greek-Turkish border. The two officials agreed on developing the cooperation in the immigration policy and EU borders security, based on the common interests in this field, the release mentions.
Moreover, both officials underscored the excellent level of the Romanian-Hellenic relations, reflected both in the dynamic of the political-diplomatic dialogue and in the economic cooperation.
