Romanian Facebook users hit 3.6 mn plus

Social networking portal Facebook is currently being accessed by over 3.6 million Romanian users, which stands for 16.85 pct coverage of the total population, shows the latest data published by facebrands.ro, the only site that officially monitors Facebook pages in Romania.

According to statistics, of the total number of Romanian Internet surfers, almost half (49.57 pct) access Facebook, and as far as the age of account holders is concerned, 33.7 pct of them fall in the 18-24 bracket.

Ranked next are users aged between 25 and 34 (31.3 pct), followed by those falling in the 13-17 age bracket (15.8 pct). Romanian Facebook users aged 35 to 44 still account for a two-digit percentage (12.9 pct).As concerns gender demographic data, women hold the majority with 50.28 pct, whereas men represent 49.72 pct of Romanian Facebook users.

According to data published by facebrands.ro, there were almost 520,000 Facebook users in Romania on January 1, 2010.With around 700 million users worldwide, of which 160 million in the United States, Facebook is by far the most popular networking portal, shows data provided by company ComScore.
