Romania's public debt increases to RON 214 bn in June

Romania's public debt on June 30, 2011, amounted to approximately 214.02 billion lei, namely 50.547 billion euros at an exchange rate standing at 4.2341 lei per euro, increasing by almost 14 billion lei compared with the end of May of this year, according to the data of the Public Finance Ministry (MFP).
144.17 billion lei was the amount owed to commercial banks and other creditors.
At the end of June, the public debt represented 39.41 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The governmental public debt accounts for 202.38 billion lei (the rest up to 214.02 billion lei is local debt), out of which the debts in lei amount to 91.36 billion lei, the debts in euros stand at 92.541 billion lei and the rest is represented by debts in other currencies.
In terms of on the maturity date, the short-term debt stood at 65.82 billion lei, the medium-term debt was 56.83 billion lei and the long-term debt accounted for 79.73 billion lei.
On December 31, 2010, Romania's public debt stood at 194.459 billion lei and accounted for 37.86 percent of the GDP.
