Romania forex reserves slightly down to EUR 32.5 bn in August

The foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) dropped 0.39 percent at the end of August, amounting to 32.550 billion euros, compared with 32.680 billion euros on July 31, 2011, according to the BNR data.
Over the month of August 1.119 billion euro inflows were registered representing changes in the foreign exchange reserve requirements of the credit institutions, inflows into the European Commission's account, inflows into the Public Finance Ministry's accounts, income from the management of foreign exchange reserves and others.
The outflows stood at 1.249 billion euros, representing changes in the foreign exchange reserve requirements of the credit institutions, interest and principal payments on foreign currency public debt and others.
The gold stock has held steady at 103.7 tonnes. However, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to 4.216 million euros.
The international reserves of Romania (foreign currencies and gold) at the end of August 2011 stood at 36.766 billion euros, compared with 36.447 billion euros on July 31, 2011.
The payments due in September 2011 on public and publicly guaranteed foreign currency denominated debt amount to 100.4 million euros.
