Morgan Stanley will evaluate the Romtelecom options regarding the listing of the company or Cosmote merger

Romtelecom, one of the big telecommunication operators on the local market, chose the investment bank Morgan Stanley to evaluate its options regarding the future of the company, especially the possibility of getting listed on the stock exchange, the merger proposal between Romtelecom and Cosmote and the listing of the new entity for the Stock Exchange or other options.

«The selection was made on the basis of the agreement between the Romtelecom, OTE and MCSI shareholders of 1 July 2011 to hire consultants for the process of evaluation of the main options of the shareholders ( either the merger of Romtelecom and Cosmote and the listing of the new entity at the stock exchange or the direct listing of Romtelecom on the stock exchange or other possible options). This bank will start the negotiation of the contract connected to Romtelecom » the officials of the telecommunication operator Romtelecom» the officials announced.

At the beginning of July, the Romtelecom shareholders the Greek group OTE and the ministry of communication and the Information Society (MCSI) decided to choose before 1 September lawyers and investment banks to offer advice regarding the future of the company. Among the Romtelecom options is the simple listing on the stock exchange, the listing after a fusion with Cosmote, the third operator of mobile telephony on the local market owned by OTE or even the postponement of the listing in case the market is not favourable.

One month before, the people in Romtelecom chose to collaborate with the Stoica&Associates office for this evaluation. The two consultants chosen by Romtelecom Morgan Stanley and Stoica&Associates must finalise the process of evaluation before December this year.
