CIF imports went down by 3.6% in July

The CIF (cost insurance freight) imports went down by 3.6 percent in values in lei (5.2 percent for values in euros) and the FOB (free on board) exports went up by 2.1 percent in values in lei (0.3 percent in values in euros) in July as compared to the previous month, according to the preliminary estimations of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In July 2011, the FOB exports went up to 3.77 billion euros (16.04 billion lei) and the CIF imports amounted to 4.41 billion euros (18.73 billion lei). On a year-on-year basis, the exports went up by 11.3 percent in values in lei (11.5 percent in values in euros), whereas the imports went up by 8.8 percent in values in lei (9.1 percent in values in euros).
The FOB-CIF trade deficit was 636.4 million euros in July 2011 (2.69 billion lei), 23.3 million euros (114.8 million lei) smaller than that of July 2010.
Over the first seven months of this year, the FOB-CIF trade deficit went down 303.5 million euros (1.227 billion lei), as compared to the similar period of last year, according to the preliminary estimations of the INS.
Over January-July, the FOB-CIF trade deficit was 5.24 billion euros (21.83 billion euros), as the FOB exports amounted to 25.8 billion euros (108.14 billion lei) and the CIF imports were 31.04 billion euros (129.978 billion euros).
On a year-on-year basis, the exports went up by 26.3 percent in values in lei (25.5 percent in values in euros) whereas the imports went up by 19.6 percent in values in lei (19.0 percent in values in euros).
The value of the intra-community transactions of goods within the aforementioned period was 18.34 billion euros (76.80 billion lei) for deliveries and 22.21 billion euros (92.95 billion lei) in acquisitions, accounting for 71 percent of the total exports and 71.5 percent of the total imports.
The following product classes hold a major percentage in the structure of imports and exports, cars and transport machinery (41.7 percent of the exports and 33.9 percent of the imports) and other manufactured products (33.8 percent at the exports and 30.6 percent of the imports).
The INS reports that the difference between the dynamics calculated with values in lei and those calculated in values in euros derived from the variation of the exchange rate of the domestic currency for euro, over the period analysed in 2011 as compared to the same period in 2010, Agerpres informs.
