Romanian exporters lose 5% of Third World Market
ACTMedia - 28 Septembrie 2011
The Romanian exporters were ousted from the non-European Third World Market, as the Western and the US contenders offering better supplies, against the background of the drop in the world demand, National Association of the Romanian Exporters and Importers (ANEIR) chairman Mihail Ionescu told the Moldova Business Forum, on Tuesday.
Due to the ever lower world demand, the Western and the US competitors invaded the Third World markets, offering more favourable terms and conditions of delayed payment, and they ousted us from the market, reason why we lost five percent of it,' said Ionescu.
In the context, Romania's export strategy is focused on the exports' return to the non-European area, ANEIR chairman added.'We are now trying to re-ignite the exports' engine in the non-European countries. It is important not to be dependent on one single market. Now, we have to compete vs. our western friends and re-conquer the third world market,' Ionescu stressed.
The Romanian side started projects in partnership with the Arabic countries in the energy and the infrastructure fields, and opened permanent exhibitions in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, promoting the Romanian companies and products, the ANEIR official pointed out.
