Statistics: Romania August jobless rate steady at 7.3%

The rate of unemployment in the seasonally adjusted form was estimated at 7.3 percent in August 2011, according to criteria of the International Labour Office (ILO), being on a par, both with that recorded in the previous month, and the level recorded in August 2010, according to the National Institute of Statistics data.
The number of ILO unemployed (15-74 years old) estimated for August of this year is 709,000 people, a slight increase as against the previous month (707,000), but declining as compared to same month of previous year (724,000 ).
Depending on gender, unemployment rate for men exceeded by 0.8 percentage points that of women (respective values being 7.7 percent for males and 6.9 percent for females).
According to INS, on the adults segment (25-74 years old) ILO unemployment rate was estimated at 6.1 percent for August 2011 (6.4 percent for men and 5.6 percent for women). The number of unemployed in the 25-74 years range accounts for 75.6 percent of the total number of ILO unemployed estimated for August 2011.
