Eurostat: Romania, EU fifth in terms of industrial production prices increase in August

Romania posted in August 2011 compared with August 2010 an increase of 7.8 percent in industrial production prices under conditions in which in the European Union industrial production prices registered a growth of 6.7 percent and in the euro area they advanced by 5.9 percent, according to figures presented on Tuesday by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat).
Among EU Member States, the largest increases were recorded in the UK (11.9 percent), Lithuania (10.5 percent), Latvia (9.4 percent), Denmark (8.9 percent) and Romania ( 7.8 percent). According to available data, all EU Member States recorded an increase in industrial production prices in August 2011 compared with August 2010.
In August 2011 compared with July 2011, industrial production prices decreased by 0.2 percent in the EU27 and in the euro area they decreased by 0.1 percent. The largest decreases were recorded in Britain (minus 1.1 percent), Bulgaria (minus 1.0 percent) and Greece (minus 0.9 percent). In Romania, industrial production prices decreased by 0.3 percent in August compared to the previous month.
According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), total industrial production prices (domestic market and foreign market) decreased by 0.2 percent in August this year compared to the previous month and registered an increase by 8.7 percent as compared to same month of 2010.
