Statistics: Net average monthly salary earnings drop 1.1% in August, to 1,455 lei

The net nominal average salary earnings in August stood at 1,455 lei, dropping 1.1 percent from the previous month, but increasing 8.7 percent compared with the same month of 2010, according to the data released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The highest values of the net nominal average salary earnings were registered in financing intermediations (3,615 lei) and the lowest were in the sector of hotels and restaurants (873 lei). On the other hand, the net nominal average salary earnings in August accounted for 2,005 lei, decreasing 22 lei from July.

According to the INS data, the real salary earnings index for August 2011 compared with the previous month, calculated as a report between the net nominal salary earning index and the consumer price index, stood at 99.2 percent. Compared with October 1990, the real salary earnings index amounted to 118.1 percent, by 0.9 percentage points lower than the one registered in July 2011.

Compared with the months of August of the previous year, the net nominal average salary earnings increased 8.7 percent and the real salary earnings index compared with the same period of last year stood at 104.3 percent.
