Samsung C&T Corporation could set up Romania's Land Registry
Agerpres - 12 Octombrie 2011
Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MDRT) and Samsung C&T Corporation might forge a public-private partnership for setting up Romania's Land Registry, an operation due to begin in three months, according to a release of MDRT.
Minister of Regional Development and Tourism Elena Udrea on Tuesday in Gyongju (South Korea) met with Yang-Bai Kim, Vice-President of Samsung C&T Corporation.
At the meeting, the Romanian minister mentioned several projects that could be implemented, such as the setting up of Romania's Land Registry, given that MDRT took over the coordination of the General Land Survey Office.
In order to establish the land registry, it is necessary to register all buildings constructed on Romania's territory (land and buildings), to set up electronic maps and publish data on the Internet for those interested to have easy access to them.
'The acquisition procedures will start shortly, so that in three months to be able to begin works and Romania to have finally clear records of all real estate properties, as it has committed to before international institutions. Unfortunately, after 20 years of non-unified enactment of a continuously amended legislation on property, today we find out that the land area that is owned according to the titles issued all this time exceeds Romania's total land area. This means that either properties overlap or that more persons own titles for the same land,' Elena Udrea said.
Udrea said the current data do not allow the formulation of plans to arrange and develop the territory.
Yang-Bai Kim said he is interested in developing Samsung's operations in Romania and in collaborating with MDRT.
'We are glad to learn that in only three months a public-private partnership for this very important project could be initiated. We are highly interested in taking part in its implementation. We already found the funding solutions and we are ready to make this investment,' Yang-Bai Kim pointed out.
