Romanian new motor vehicles registration up 7.21% in September

The number of the new vehicles registered in Romania went up 7.21 percent in Sept. up to 8,995 vehicles compared to the same period a year ago, while new cars recorded an increase of only 0.22 percent up to 6,875 units, show figures made public by the Driving Licence and Vehicle Registration Directorate on Wednesday.
It said the best sold brand in Sept. remained Romanian-made Dacia with 1,937 units, up 8.58 percent from the nine months of 2010, when 1,784 Dacia cars were sold. On the second spot by number of auto brands registered in Romania there is Volkswagen with 784 units (14.37 pct rise), Skoda with 648 units (13.29 pct rise) and Renault with 593 units (1pct drop).
By types of motor vehicles, the buses and mini-coaches recorded the biggest jump in Sept. (52 units, a 147.62pct surge on last Sept.), followed by semi-trailers (137 units, a 140.35 pct surge), tractors (25 units, 127.27pct surge) and utility vehicles (1,043 units, 38.33 pct rise).
Growths were also posted by the special-use vehicles (118 units, a 34.09pct rise), trailers (617 units, 27.22pct), mopeds and motorbikes (128 units, 12.28pct) and automobiles (6,975 units, 0.22pct).
The motor vehicle brands with the lowest number of registered vehicles in Sept. were Lexus (3 units), Jaguar (2 units), Ferrari, GWM, Quattro, Saab and Smart (a unit each), the Directorate announced.
