Romania ranks 4th in EU in terms of Aug industrial output growth

Romania's industrial production surged by 1.9 percent in Aug. 2011 compared with Aug. 2010, an increase higher than the EU's average, show the data released on Wednesday by Eurostat official statistical office of the EU.

According to Eurostat, the industrial production in Romania moved up annually by 7.7 percent.

According to the figures unveiled by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the industrial production (raw series) plunged by 7.1 percent in Aug. 2011 against July 2011, due to the negative evolution of the processing industry (minus 9.4 percent). In terms of adjusted series based on the number of working days and seasonality, the industrial production went up 1.9 percent due to rises recorded by all three industrial sectors. Compared with Aug. 2010, the industrial production edged up both in terms of raw series and adjusted series based on the number of working days and seasonality by 10.3 percent and 7.4 percent respectively.
