Business environment: 2012, peak of financial crisis in Romania
Agerpres - 12 Octombrie 2011
More than half of the companies in Romania believe that the economic crisis peak will be reached in 2012, a year that will be affected by new bankruptcies of Romanian SMEs, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Director for South-Eastern Europe Andreia Stanciu told a press conference on the developments on the SMEs sector on Wednesday.
'As the surveys carried out in this sector reveal, Romania has not reached the financial crisis peak yet. The peak is to be reached in 2012. It is good though we can know this thing beforehand and that the companies have thus the possibility of rethinking their business, of redirecting themselves. Bankruptcies will definitely continue, companies no longer make profit because of the drop in demand and the SMEs have access to financing in a much more difficult manner,' Andreia Stanciu said.
The ACCA Director pointed out that service industry would be the one to develop over the coming years.
Over half of the Romanian enterprises of all industries believe that the crisis peak will be reached in 2012 also according to a survey presented by Oana Dasca, representative of the National Council for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Romania.
'The share of the companies believing that the crisis peak will be reached in 2012 range from 50 to 60 percent in all industries,' Oana Dasca said.
Seven percent of the companies believe that the business environment in Romania is favourable, 22 percent say the business environment is a neutral one and 70 percent of the enterprises see it as a disturbing environment, according to the data presented. Moreover, the survey shows that 44 percent of the companies have reduced their activity and only 12 percent have extended their business. In constructions, 59 percent of the companies have downsized their activity. Eighty percent of the SMEs in Romania believe that trade is appropriate for increasing sales, 16 percent believe that the increase in exports is appropriate and 44 percent go for the use of new technologies.
The main issues in economy according to the answers of Romanian enterprises representatives are the drop in the domestic demand (over 60 percent), the increased fiscality and the low level of loans accessibility.
