Daianu: Romania will not be able to have economic growth if recession comes back
ACTMedia - 19 Octombrie 2011
Romania will not be able to have an economic growth if the recession comes back, the only instrument it will be able to use for its growth being the absorption of the European funds, said economist Daniel Daianu on Tuesday when the study titled 'Taxation Policy in Romania: Curse of Low Fiscal Returns' was launched.
'If there is recession again, we shall not be able to have economic growth and the European funds should operate as it should have happened in 2009 and 2010. We shall not have another instrument. This is the adrenalin the system needs,' said Daniel Daianu.
He also made it clear that the public system was a system of rents both for the ones inside it and for the ones outside it, a context in which the study that was published recommends the increase in the Government's transparency.
'The public system is a system of rents both for the ones inside it and for the ones outside it. Be it a good economic time or one of crisis, something must be done here. The suggestions refer to the Government's transparency, to the way of spending the public money, to establishing some cost standards that could be compared with the international ones. The public acquisition questions pertain to transparency,' added Daniel Daianu.
