Mihai Ionescu (ANEIR): Romanian exports surge by 36.9% in October 2011
ACTMedia - 25 Octombrie 2011
The Romanian exports went up by 36.9 percent over the first couple of decades of October 2011 on year-on-year basis, whereas the imports went up by 20.3 percent, Mihai Ionescu, general secretary of the National Association of the Romanian Importers and Exporters (ANEIR), told Agerpres on Monday.
'During the entire 2011, except for August, the Romanian exports reported a speedier growth than imports. Thus, the trade balance deficit will go on a downward trend this year. The exchange rate was one of the factors leading to these results, but also the expansion of the Romanian companies on many markets. Opening this summer two centres to promote exports in the US, one in L.A and the other in New York, was an action that sprang from ANEIR and EximBank and which can bring healthy profits to the Romanian producers willing to enter that market,' said Mihai Ionescu.
The two offices promote such products at the moment as wine, dietary supplements and furniture, aiming to expand their activity with IT products and textiles.
'The US are a market with a potential of millions of dollars for the Romanian companies in its incipient stages. The only problem faced at entering the distribution networks is that the Romanian products are not certified according to the required standards and the offer of the representatives of the OK Kosher Certification present in Romania during these days can provide them with that opportunity,' Mihai Ionescu said.
