Romania September jobless rate rises to 7.5%

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was estimated at 7.5 percent in September 2011, according to the criteria of the International Labour Organization (ILO), increasing 0.2 percentage points compared with the previous month and 0.3 percentage points over the level of September 2010, according to the provisional data announced on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Moreover, the ILO estimated number of unemployed persons in September this year stands at 727,000, increasing compared both with the previous month (709,000) and with the same month of the previous year (720,000).
The unemployment rate in the case of men exceeds by 0.8 percentage points the unemployment rate registered in the line of women (the values in question standing at 7.9 percent in the case of males, and at 7.1 percent in the case of females).
According to INS, the ILO unemployment rate for adults (25-74 years old) was estimated at 6.2 percent in September 2011 (6.4 percent in the case of men and 5.8 percent in the case of women). The number of unemployed aged between 25 and 74 represents 75 percent of the total number of ILO unemployed persons estimated for the month of September 2011.
