ACTMedia - 8 Noiembrie 2011
The Romanian Government can assist the country with its economic growth and jobs creation by actually drawing in by the end of 2012 of nearly 8 billion euros worth of European funds, Director for Romania with the European Commission (EC) Istvan Szekely said on Monday upon the release of the conclusion of a recent evaluation mission conducted by the International Monetary Fund and the EC.
'We have to put European money to work as one of the strongest growth sources. Ate the same time, we have more positive aspects and I mean here the commitment of Romania's European Affairs Minister Leonard Orban to better prioritise projects and steer funds where there is capacity to implement. Drawing nearly 8 billion euros by the close of 2012 could bring a major contribution to the country's growth and jobs creation,' said Szekely. He added that the European Commission made a proposal that it financially assist up to 95 percent of Romania's investment projects. The European Union's official statistics office, Eurostat, has lifted its reservations on Romania, Szekely added.
Programme with Romania is on right track, progress is strong
The precautionary programme with Romania is on the right track and the progress is strong, European Commission Director for Romania Istvan Szekely said in Bucharest, on Monday, at the end of the evaluation mission on Romania's precautionary agreements with the international financial institutions. After a painful adjustment in 2010, the economic growth came back to the positive area, the EC official said, adding that the economic growth estimation for 2011 stood at 1.5 percent and at 2 percent for 2012. The cash budget deficit target for 2012 will account for 1.9 percent of the GDP, namely for 2.1 percent of the GDP, if the deficit calculation is made taking into account the National Infrastructure Development Programme, too, Szekely pointed out.
