EC: Before setting a date for accession to Euro, Romania must meet criteria

Before setting a date for a state's accession to the euro area, the criteria stipulated in the Treaty must be met, a European Commission (EC) spokesman said in Brussels on Friday, as an answer to a question on Romania's intention of maintaining its objective of accessing the monetary union in 2015.

Before setting a definite deadline between the Commission and a member state, the criteria stipulated in the Treaty must be met, EC spokesman Olivier Bailly told a press conference in Brussels.
